Step by step how to install ubuntu 11.04 (Natty Narwhal) (with usb flash drive)
(note:Before you install ubuntu, I suggest you set up partitions on your hard drive first. Create an empty partition for ubuntu)
1. Download the Ubuntu ISO from http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download
2. Create Usb bootable from ubuntu iso
3. Reboot computer and set your system BIOS or boot menu to boot from the USB device
4. Click “Install ubuntu 11.04” on the live desktop (top left)
5. Choose your language
6. Preparing to install Ubuntu: Ubuntu will check the readiness of the device including the availability of internet connection. In this step, if you have a slow Internet connection we suggest that you should disable the option "Download updates while Installing" and "Install this third-party software" because it will make the installation process runs long. But if you have a fast internet connection you can activate it. Press the "Forward" to proceed to the next step
7. Allocate drive space : The situation is different possibilities, but I advise you to choose something else option. But to choose this option you must first have an empty partition (unalocated partition)
8. Now you can See the following screen with the disks available in your machine.
In the example of my hard drive capacity of 80 gb, and I have a 5,9 gb free space (unalocated partition).
Then I will create a new partition with a size of 4,8 gb (for root /)
and 1 gb for swap area
Create a partition for root system (/)
- mark on free space area and then click add
- create new partition size (in megabytes) >>>> I recommend more than 5 gb. (I'm sorry because my hard drive is very full so I can only give an example with 4, 8 gb only: D)
- change mounts points to root (/)
- and click ok
Create a partition for SWAP
- mark on free space area and then click add
- create new partition size
give two times as your ram size
Ex: I have 512 MB ram in my system so I have given 1 GB of space to the swap area.
- change use as to swap area
- and click ok
latest step click install now
9. Select your location and click 'Forward' to proceed. If you're unsure of your time zone, type the name of the town you're in and we'll help you find it.
10. Select your preferred keyboard layout.
11. Enter your login and password will use (and also will be the default for our system permissions, so do not forget)
